Life of Significance Part 6

If I could live any five years over again it would be the ages of 44 to 49. Those were my son’s first five years of life, and I would have been more intentional about developing his mind in his formative years. He is a wonderful young man, but I always feel as though I could have done a better job of stimulating his mind and preparing him for his school years. I would have also been more aggressive financially in preparing for his college education and my retirement.

Question: If you could live any five years over again, which would it be and why? What would you do differently?

Live in the overflow!

    If I could, I would relive 1979-1983
I would have stayed in college. Although all the “DON’T DO IT!” signs were there, in 1983 I married my high school sweetheart when he returned from the Navy. Although I was blessed to enter the Corporate America at a young age, I should have been focused on my education and future. I divorced my first husband four years later. The possibility of that marriage not existing could have changed the trajectory of my career path and financial standing today. I have been married to my current husband now 28 years and we have two young adult children. I love them all dearly. Because of God’s Grace and Mercy we’ve had more good days than bad days. I’m blessed.

2000-2004. I would have spent more time with my mom. She passed in 2004 and worsened during those years. She was so sick but was coming to terms with her life ending. I kept telling her to stop telling me about her plans for the end of her life but didn’t want to hear it. It made me avoid talking with her. I miss her ever day

If I could relive any five-year period over again it would be years 1991 -1996. I would have continued my education by receiving my MBA and then joined the Air Force as an Officer. I always wanted to be a pilot in the AF. I had already taken the ASVAB and passed. But I received my first real job with a Fortune 500 company working in their corporate office (doing accounting). For a 21 year old that was a dream come true. So I thought.
